Job Description: Plans and administers medically prescribed physical therapy treatment for patients suffering from injuries, or muscle, nerve, joint and bone diseases, to restore function, relieve pain, and prevent disability. Participates in the development, implementation, and coordination of a physical therapy program to provide screening, evaluation, and treatment. To practice Physical Therapy consistent with the American Physical Therapy Association Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice.*ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :* include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Reviews Physician's referral (prescription) and patient's condition and medical records to determine physical therapy treatment required.Tests and measures patient's strength, motor development, sensory perception, functional capacity, and respiratory and circulatory efficiency, and records findings to develop or revise treatment programs.Plans and prepares written treatment program based on evaluation of patient data.Administers manual exercises to improve and maintain function.Instructs, motivates, and assists patient to perform various physical activities and use of assistant and supportive devices such as crutches, canes, and prostheses.Administers treatments involving application of physical agents.Evaluates effects of treatment at various stages and adjusts treatments to achieve maximum benefit.Administers manual traction to relieve pain.Records treatment, response, and progress in patient's chart or enters information into computer.Instructs patient and family in treatment procedures to be continued at home.Confers with Physician and other practitioners to obtain additional patient information, suggest revisions in treatment program, and integrate physical therapy treatment with other aspects of patient's health care.Orients, instructs, and directs work activities of assistants, aides, and students.Plans and conducts lectures and training programs on physical therapy and related topics for medical staff, students, and community groups.Develops individual treatment goals and activities.Participates in the multi-disciplinary meeting to develop Individual Education Plans.Coordinates the development and evaluation of physical therapy program.Participates in documenting material needs, developing policy, and assists in preparing budgets.Maintains clinical and administrative records in accordance with State guidelines and company policy.Inventories equipment, materials, and supplies.The physical therapist is able to evaluate a patient's aerobic capacity and endurance, joint motion, muscle strength and endurance, posture, pain, functional ability, and muscle tone and reflexes. Must also be able to evaluate appearance and stability of walking, need and use of braces and artificial limbs, function of the heart and lungs, integrity of sensation and perception, integrity and health of skin, performance of activities required in daily living, and developmental activities.*Physical Therapy Techniques:*Therapeutic exerciseMobilization/manipulation and range-of-motion exercisesCardiovascular endurance trainingRelaxation exercisesTraining in activities of daily livingAmbulation trainingPool Therapy*PROBLEM SOLVING*Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Gathers and analyzes information skillfully; Develops alternative solutions; Works well in group problem solving situations; Uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics. Develops subordinates' skills and encourages growth.*EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE*Graduate of an approved school of Physical Therapy with a preferred minimum of two years of facility experience.*LANGUAGE SKILLS*Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.*COMPUTER SKILLS*To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.*CERTIFCATES, REGISTRATIONS, AND LICENSURES*Current Physical Therapist License in the state of Idaho.
