Job Description:


Operates a motor vehicle to transport disabled residents to and from medical facilities and other destinations according to assigned schedule. Assists residents into and out of vehicle ensuring their safety, comfort and dignity at all times.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Inspects vehicle daily before and after transporting residents.
  • Transfers or assists residents into and out of vehicle, may include helping residents out of their homes.
  • Properly secures oxygen tanks in vehicles and on wheelchairs.
  • Secures passenger’s wheelchairs to restraining devices to stabilize wheelchairs during transport.
  • Correctly operates wheelchair lifts; both automatic and manual, using proper safety restraints.
  • Assists with resident’s seat belts.
  • Operates radio/cell phone or similar device to communicate with main office.
  • Enters all details of each transport in the Transportation Boarding Log.
  • Fuels vehicles as needed.
  • Keep vehicles clean inside and out including vacuuming, dusting and mopping as needed.
  • Does administrative errands as needed.
  • Performs transports while observing resident’s rights to dignity and respect.
  • Drives vehicle to destination according to assigned resident appointment schedule while maintaining contact with Valley Vista administrative staff. Includes out of town driving as needed.
  • Has a working knowledge of the Transportation Policies and Procedures, the Drivers Manual, the SSEPP plan notebook and VVCC’s Personnel Policies and Procedures.
  • Drives vehicle in a safe manner and in compliance with all DMV driving regulations/laws.
  • Completes periodic after-hours transports when available.


Maintains a current Idaho driver’s license and a clean driving record. Must successfully complete PASS training and a road test. Must successfully pass a DOT physical if required. Maintains current CNA certification and CPR or be willing to obtain CNA certification within 6 months of employment.
