Job Description:


Provides a sanitary, safe and orderly environment for our residents and staff.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


· Cleans and sanitizes resident rooms, bathrooms, nursing home common areas and offices including but not limited to: furniture, windows, windowsills, doors, walls, handrails, mirrors, sinks, toilets, bathing areas, bedrails, beds, mattresses, towel racks and holders, commodes, urinals, equipment, vents, light fixtures, curtains, and blinds.

· Prevents the spread of disease-causing organisms by keeping resident care equipment clean and properly stored.

· Utilizes the chemical stations to prepare mop water and cleaning supplies needed to perform the assigned tasks.

· Maintains knowledge of Valley Vista Care safety policies and procedures. Wear the appropriate PPE required for the task being completed.

· Keeps housekeeping cart stocked with needed supplies to complete task. Ensures housekeeping cart is locked when not in use.

· Dusts, sweeps/vacuums, and mops areas as assigned.

· Required to clean and sanitize spills and splashes of blood or other bodily fluid as needed by following proper infection control procedures and ensuring compliance with the OSHA Blood Borne Pathogen Standards.

· Maintains an adequate supply of soap, towels, toilet tissue, and garbage can liners in the areas needed.

· Spot cleans carpets and upholstered furniture.

· Ensures breakroom and therapy annex are cleaned including but not limited to: tables, floors, microwaves, refrigerators and freezers. Defrost refrigerators and freezers when needed.

· Reports any safety hazards to the supervisor or maintenance staff.

· Empties trash and waste to disposal area.

· Fills hand sanitizer dispensers ensuring “use by” dates are followed and appropriate logs are maintained.

· Complies with facility policies regarding secure storage of chemicals, supplies and equipment. This includes but is not limited to: locking of supply rooms and housekeeping carts, securing equipment when not in use and proper labeling of chemicals and supplies.

· Ensures equipment cords are managed so they do not create tripping hazard.

· Complies with HIPAA regulations.

· Notifies supervisor when floors need stripped/waxed or when carpets need shampooed.
